How to be a Church Liaison

Serving as a liaison for Christian Community In Action within your church community can be very rewarding. The task is important as it helps members of your congregation know how to help serve our neighbors in crisis through all the ministries of CCA. There are really only two simple parts of this position:

  • Be a spokesperson for CCA

  • Collect and deliver Food Pantry items

If you are interested in representing CCA to your congregation, please contact Polly Jenkins, 380-7974 or polann@bellsouth.net.

Spokesperson Role

Keep information provided about CCA before your church leadership and members. Printed news and information will be prepared by CCA Publicity Committee on a monthly basis. (If your church office has an e-mail address, it can be sent directly for publication in your bulletin or newsletter.) Suggestions of ways to keep the congregation informed include church newsletter items, bulletin inserts, "mission moments" or announcements at worship services, or planned CCA staff/member visits to groups in your church for programs.

You can use the Overview Presentation [400KB .PPT file] or the Printable Version [300 KB .PDF file] as material to present to groups in your church family.

Food Pantry Collection

Church member helpers may be appointed to work with you to secure a "CCA Pantry" collection crate or box and see that a regular delivery is made to the Food Pantry at CCA (at least once monthly). Your Pastor or Outreach leadership will be notified by CCA’s president that you are serving as your church’s liaison, and church members will welcome you as "someone who knows" about Christian Community In Action and the ministries of Outreach and The Dorcas Thrift Shop.

Of course, being a Church Liaison is just one of many volunteer opportunities at CCA.
