Margaret Keller Adult Education Scholarship Guideliness
Margaret Keller Adult Education Scholarship grants empower women (typically) by giving them the opportunity to
pursue goals of higher education.
The student must submit a transcript of their grades at the end of each semester to comply with the scholarship’s guidelines.
To be considered for a grant, one must meet the following profile. The applicant must:
- Be a resident of Cary, Holly Springs, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Morrisville,
or a southwest Wake County town in CCA's service area in North Carolina.
- Be a candidate for a degree or certificate program at an approved institution of higher learning.
The requirement for a degree or specific career objective is to help insure that this will lead
to a productive career rather than a single course focused on improving current employment.
All circumstances are considered and a grant may be given if a course of study will likely achieve
the desired goals of this program.
- Have financial need. While the Committee does not discriminate with regards to race or sex,
most grantees are women, many of whom are single parents. Typically the applicants are individuals
who bear the primary responsibility for the support or themselves and their children.
Most are trying to work and get their education.
- Have a specific goal for the improvement of their personal lives, which can be met realistically through education.
The goal must include an earnest desire and commitment to conduct themselves in a moral and ethical manner.
The applicants must have a strong motivation to succeed in their goals within a realistic time period.
The applicants also must have the intelligence and organizational skills to succeed.
The concept of the committee is to try to have the CCA investment return to the community quickly.
Scholarship Administration
A volunteer committee administers the Margaret Keller Adult Education Scholarship program.
Committee members possess professional experience and education in fields related to the determination
of need-based eligibility. All applicants are thoroughly screened and continually monitored by the committee.
The committee works within a CCA budget set by the Board of Directors. Committee members individually and
prayerfully consider the need and amount of financial help for each scholarship.
