TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN...
March/April 2008
This is a very special time of the year for Christians all around the globe. During this Most Holy
Season we often reflect on the 40 days between the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ.
During this forty day period Christ appeared to many persons on many occasions to prove that
He had overcome the world and that the Word of God had been fulfilled.
This is a very special year in the life of Christian Community In Action. This year we celebrate
40 years of providing “Help When It Counts” to the Cary community. When we look back over
our rich history there are many examples showing how we continue to carry the message that
Christ is alive, and He lives in us. Each day for forty years somehow, to someone, for some
reason, you have proven to the community of Cary that good can overcome evil, that regardless
of how bleak your circumstances may seem there is hope, and that the love of Christ overcomes
all and any barriers. You have done this not by praising God with just the fruit of your lips, but
the actions of your lives.
God has truly blessed us by providing resources for His ministry to continue. These resources
come to us as volunteers, staff, donations, contributions, and most recently the space to expand
His ministry. As we look back over our history we see a pattern of God providing for us just in
time. Most of us have come to realize that there is no such thing as luck or coincidences. We
realize these things as just what they are: Blessings from God. Truly much has been given to
this ministry and much is expected from us in return. The most pressing expectation is that we
remain focused on the source of our blessings so that we may receive more. Problems will arise
if we get out of focus. Some symptoms of being out of true focus are:
- Making ourselves known instead of exalting Christ;
- Substituting programs for prayer;
- Placing political change above heart change;
- Placing importance on numerical growth rather than spiritual growth;
- Spreading our personal opinions instead of God’s word;
- Relying on technology instead of God’s power;
- Measuring success by profits instead of God’s blessings.
Our 40 year celebration is scheduled for November 12th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with the location
to be determined. The Honorable Mayor Harold Weinbrecht will be our featured speaker.
Please mark this on your calendar and invite others to share in the joy. Above all remain focused
on the true source of our blessings, so that we can continue to live up to our expectations.
Blessings and Peace.
