Christian Community In Action

Children Tuition Scholarship Guidelines

To receive tuition assistance, parents complete an application giving financial and child-related reasons the child will benefit from a scholarship following the guidelines spelled out here. After a phone interview and a home visit, the committee often awards a daycare, a preschool, a before- or after-school care, or a camp scholarship. Contact CCA to get a scholarship form if financial assistance is needed for child tuition and if the child lives in Cary, Morrisville, or a southwest Wake County town in CCA's service area. The need and amount of financial help to each applicant are always individually and prayerfully considered by CCA.

Requirements for a Christian Community In Action Children Tuition Scholarship are:

  1. A residence in Cary, Holly Springs, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Morrisville, or a southwest Wake County town in CCA's service area in North Carolina
  2. Family finances hold the child back from receiving an educational experience
  3. A completed Childcare application obtained from and returned to Christian Community In Action
  4. A named childcare location for the child and the monthly tuition for that facility
  5. A home interview by two members of the CCA scholarship committee

Additional requirements and guidelines relate to the type of scholarship:

    Daycare Scholarship

    • A parent must be employed; often the applicant is newly employed.
    • The daycare facility must be licensed.
    • Daycare Scholarships are short term, and are a bridge to financial family independence.

"The Daycare Scholarship is to assist an employed family member as s/he returns to work and is designed as temporary assistance allowing the family the opportunity to rearrange its finances."

    Preschool Scholarship

    • The child in a 5-year-old transitional program or a 4-year-old program will receive first consideration. Occasionally scholarships are available for a child in a 3-year-old program.

    Before-and-After School Care Scholarship

    • A parent is working when the child would be home and unsupervised.
    • Alternatively, the child will benefit, educationally and personally, with a supplemental educational experience.

    Camp Scholarship

    • The child will benefit, educationally, socially and personally by having a camp experience.

Scholarship Administration

A volunteer committee administers the CCA Children Tuition Scholarship program. The committee works within a CCA budget set by the Board of Directors. Committee members individually and prayerfully consider the need and amount of financial help for each scholarship. The safety, welfare and future educational growth of the child involved is the committee's priority.
